[He can't help but look down a little feeling concerned, though it was just because of the current situation.]
This disciple's master woke up in the forest, and every senior this one has reached out to is also in the forest. Shizun gave instructions to go to town and see if there is word of any changes in the forest, and any being that's may live there. To learn of potential dangers and activities that might explain this recent abduction. This one was to find a senior to accompany.
[He considers teasing him, maybe seeing what reaction he may get if he did so. But Yun Yifeng isn't heartless. He isn't going to tease when the other person is already worried.]
I did say I'd help you learn to gather information more effectively...and as a senior I could hardly leave you to your own devices. [And besides with, he's been a little concerned about this whole 'suddenly waking up in the forest' thing himself.]
[In fact, he moves leisurely so he doesn't arrive soon, exactly, but soon enough, probably. He doesn't want to take so long he risked Luo Binghe running off on his own. He is, as he always is in this place, carrying his sword.
He smiled.]
So, let me know what you've already done. [Or are we starting from scratch here?]
[Binghe does not miss a beat and falls instep quickly, or at least close enough. He hadn't reached his full height yet, but he wasn't that far off.]
It did not seem ominous, though this one can't say for certain, it almost seemed as if it was trying to help.
[Or maybe that was his wishful thinking.]
As for Senio Lan Xichen... this is the first time this one has tried to contact him. His brother gave me his information, but it failed to get a response.
[In a lot of ways, finding someone who was guilty was easier than finding someone who was innocent. After all, if the deer was only there to help then that left a large blank space where the answer of 'who is the culprit' was supposed to go.
Even so, it was good for Shen Qingqiu, at least.
He thought about it for a moment.]
It would be lucky if we were to follow all both the disappearance of this Senior of yours and those in the forest and find they are lead to the same problem.
[But there's always a chance the investigation will lead to different paths.]
Ah...at moments like this, I truly do miss my disciples. [He tapped his chin briefly.] Still, one must work with what resources are at hand. Tell me, Luo Binghe, for what reason did his brother give you his contact information?
This one originally contacted Senior Lan Wangji, as Shizun had previously had me assist him in matters. But, he was also in the forest, so his brother was given to contact instead.
[Sorry you were third town the list Yun Yifeng, though in his heart you were definitely second! And first next time.]
[It's fine. Sometimes you are the third contact on a child's list and that's just how things are.
He just looks thoughtful as he considers that.]
Then we can only surmise that his brother is the sort to answer when contacted.
[Which truly is concerning.
They're not exactly rushing and that gives them time to work out things as they move.]
All right then. If I were to ask you to prioritize what needs to be investigated, out of the questions we need answers to at the moment, rank them according to their importance.
[Even normally, he'd have to prioritize and determine which problem required more manpower, which ones he should delegate to Qing Yue specifically and which ones to handle directly.
So this is a lesson: deciding what information should be gone after first.]
[Luo Binghe thought of this carefully, of the information they needed what was the most pressing and important? Understanding the nature of the stag was definitely up there, but also knowing about the forest and why everyone may have been transported there.
However, knowing that now did not change Shizun being there.]
The nature of the stag, and then, the dangers of the forest.
[Though he felt the stag was not dangerous, he had no proof it did not hold ill intent. Learning more about what Shizun was potentially following was most important. Then, knowing what lurked in the forest was second. Even though he felt they were both equally important.]
I'd agree. Knowing the nature of the stag immediately decides what our next steps. If it is there to help then we can leave those in the forest to them. If not, then all of our other questions are secondary. And knowing what dangers are in the forest lets us prepare for the state they may return in.
[...however. While he'd agree that Senior Lan Xichen's lack of responding to being contact wasn't something of immediate concern compared to the rest he also can't help but feel a little pity for the man being written off so easily.
Ah well.]
It's a good idea never to go gather information on your own. Ignoring the issue of safety, having someone to compare your conclusions with is never a bad thing. Especially with someone who may not think the same way as you do.
[Ah, Shen Qingqiu sure found a good student...he wonders if any of the other Peak Lords ever complained about it?]
Different solutions as well as different perspectives. When investigating, it's not strange that one already has some suspicions. In that case, it is easy to see what one wants to see and miss or misinterpret the details. If afterwards, a second or even a third person comes to the same conclusions coming out of the same encounter then the likelihood of it being the correct conclusion increases.

Date: 2020-09-28 01:44 am (UTC)This one has spoken with Shizun over the mirror. Two others at the very least are also in the forest, Senior Lan Wangji and Senior Lan Xichen.
Though...
[Actually he did not know that for a fact.]
No. Senior Lan Xichen is simply missing and attempts to contact fail.
There was a great white stag behind Shizun when he gave his initial message.
This one has not spoken to the locals yet about the forest.

[Which is to say, good job correcting yourself!
He starts walking towards town, his gait is leisurely but he doesn't hesitate to start moving as if he expects to just be followed.]
I assume the white stag wasn't an immediate threat. [Since you don't seem like you're freaking out about it.] But it's a good place to start asking.
[Since he....gets the sense that there are probably multiple creatures that would indulge in the occasional kidnapping.]
Is it common to be unable to contact Senior Lan Xichen?
